Ethnological Museum Mijas - Casa Museo Mijas | Malaga Province



The ethnological Museum or Casa Museo of Mijas is situated in the old city hall of the village. It opened its doors in 1995. It represents the history and how people used to live(Ethnology) in Mijas. The museum has undergone recent refurbishments and has extended their expositions with additional rooms.

When entering the Casa Museo, you enter into the past of the Mijeñas. Until 1960 their main occupation was agriculture and you can still see this in the type of tools they had. The museum wants to show the history of this town and with success! You are transported into time and can visualize and image how inhabitants formerly lived here in this town. You can still see the handcrafts they practiced and recently they opened a replica of the very small room where Manuel Cortes lived in for 30 years. A republican who was hiding from facisme with this Democratic idea's.

Casa Museo also has a exhibition hall with changing exhibitions throughout the year. In the patio, you can enjoy in the summer the flamenco music from young guitarists and established flamenco singers.

Opening times:
Fall/ winter / spring : daily from 9 am until 7 pm
Summer: daily from 10 am until 3 pm and from 5 pm until 10 pm
Entrance fee: donation of 1€ to Casa Museo Mijas
