The Sierra de Mijas are the mountain on the north of Mijas. It seperates the Valle de Guadalhorce from the Costa del Sol. The highest point is the Pico de Mijas.

The Sierra de Mijas, just behind the white village is surrounded with pine trees. A nice area to do some hiking and to explore the fauna and flora of these mountains. The tourist office of Mijas organises nearly every Saturday guided hiking tours into the mountains (from October to May). But you can also get a hiking map from the tourist office and do it on your own. The paths are pretty rocky with small stones and sand, so good walking shoes are needed.

Carry enough water with you, so you can rest and hydrate once you finished climbing. The gorgeous view on the bay and the white village of Mijas are the trip worthwhile.
