You will find all you need, and even more in the shops in Mijas. All urbanisations have one of more shopping area's. Plenty of supermarkets such as Mercadona, SuperSol, Lidl and OpenCor can be found. Most of the supermarkets are open from 9am to 9pm, from Monday to Saturday. They have no closing hour during lunch. During high season, July and August, some of them even stay open later and also open on Sundays. The supermarkets 'OpenCor' are often open 24/7, although you may notice that they are a little more expensive.

Adjoining these supermarkets, you can find other shops such as souvenir shops, launderettes, newspaper stands and decoration shops in Mijas. And of course, lets not forget the bars to rest after a great shopping trip with a beer or sangria on a terrace. Twice a week a market is held at La Cala. Conveniently located near the exit of the A7 motorway (exit La Cala), this market takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm. vegetables, fruits, flowers but also clothing, shoes, souvenirs and much much more can be bought here at attractive, even cheap prices. Second hand and antiques are being displayed on the Sunday markets of 'HIPODROMO' and in Calahonda.

Are you looking for an international shop such as H&M, Zara, Celio etc? Then you can best go to one of the huge shopping centers in Fuengirola or Marbella. When driving towards Fuengirola, coming from Mijas Costa, is the shopping area MIRAMAR. It consists of 2 flights of individual 'boutiques' and shops representing a large selection of international brands. It holds also a extensive supermarket and movie theaters. Parking is free and you even have a Parking is gratis en a enormous covered parking to protect your car from the sun and heat.

A second shopping area in Fuengirola is 'El corte Inglès' a little more towards the center, with a large HIPERCOR. If you go into the direction of Marbella, at 15 minutes drive, you will come across 'La Cañada'. This modern shopping complex has a vast amount of clothing shops, perfumeries, decoration ideas, restaurants, bars and a few cinema's. La cañada is open from 10 am until 10 pm and has a very large parking. Perhaps one of the 'things to do' in Mijas on one of the few rainy days?
