Public transport is a good and cheap way of getting around. Public transport in Mijas is limited to the bus service but this will take you to Malaga, Marbella, Fuengirola or even just a few urbanizations further within Mijas Costa.
You can use public transport to Mijas upon your arrival from the Airport or train station of Malaga. But even once you have reached your destination, it is easy getting around with the bus service that is offered.

As said, Public transport in Mijas is limited to bus service but you have several busses. I have split them up in 2 categories: from Mijas Costa and from Mijas Pueblo for your convenience.
BUSSES FROM MIJAS COSTA: Bus 220: Fuengirola - Marbella This bus stops at nearly all the urbanisations on the coast side of Mijas. It runs every half hour starting at 7h30 weekdays and 8h on Sundays. Last bus towards Fuengirola is at 23h57 during the week, 23h30 on Sundays. For more useful information of Mijas Busses, please take a look in the grey boxes at your right.
Bus 320 : Malaga - Marbella This bus takes you all the way to Malaga. It stops at the main bus stops of Mijas Costa such as Calahonda, La Cala, El chaperal, and others. You can find the full description of the route and time table in the information boxes to your right. Line 320 runs about 8 times a day and it takes you about 1 hour to reach Malaga from La Cala.
BUSSES FROM MIJAS PUEBLO: Bus 112: Malaga - Mijas Pueblo This bus brings you directly from Malaga to Mijas Pueblo without passing by Fuengirola. 4 times a day this bus does the route. Estimated time to reach Malaga from Mijas Pueblo is about 1h15
Bus 121: Mijas - Torremolinos From Mijas Pueblo to the other coastal destinations: Benalmadena and Torremolinos.
Bus 122: Mijas - Fuengirola This line will bring you to Fuengirola in about 15 minutes. The bus runs often between these 2 destinations but please consult the time table. The first one leave Mijas at 7h45 during the week, 8h30 on Sundays. The last one leaving Mijas direction Fuengirola is at 22h.
Bus 221: Fuengirola - Mijas P - Coin This bus runs about 4 times a day and take you to Coin, if you wish to visit this town that is more inland.
PRICES The bus ticket will depend if you stay within the same zone or passes several zones. Staying within the same zone, like for example from La Cala Mijas to Calahonda will cost you 1.5€ per person Passing to 1 other Zone, will be 1.60€. When you go to Malaga you will pass 2 different zones and a ticket will be 2.20€ per person.
