The Museums in Mijas are all located in the beautiful white village of Mijas Pueblo. Another large variety of museums can be found in Malaga, at about 40 min drive from Mijas.

The museums in Mijas are in the old village. The Folk museum, called Casa Museo, is an ethnographic museum and shows the old trades and traditions of Mijas. You can visit the bakery, a traditional house, etc.

Another interesting but small museum is located in the Plaza de Toros. Here you can visit the Bullring that dates from 1900 from the inside. You will also see some bullfighters costumes and billboards. You will only need about 20 minutes to visit this museum.

When you are walking on the left side of the plaza de la Virgin de la Peña upwards to the Plaza de Toros, you will see the caravan 'Carromato de Max'. This caravan holds the collection of Professor Max of miniatures. The Battleship painted on a grain of rice or the image Lady Di on the head of a needle are very impressive. The collection is often accompanied by a magnifying glass so you can appreciate all the little details. A unique museum!

The wine museum and the chocolate factory are rather commercial museums where you can learn and buy. Did you know that the Mayan Monkey Chocolate factory the smallest chocolate factory of the world is? Both museums offer workshops for groups upon reservation. Mijas is located near Malaga, also called the museum town. Malaga has more then 25 museums all located near to each other in the centre of the town. The most known is the Picasso museum. Picasso was born in Malaga and it was his dream to have his own musuem in Malaga.

De Automobile museum in Malaga, near the port does not only have an exposition of famous cars but also has a fashion section with and exhibition of heads and haute couture. A museum that will both please him and her! Other interesting museums in Malaga are the museum of Contemporary art (CAC), the national museum of airports and Air transport, the MIMMA - Museo Interactivo de Musica Malaga and much much more.
