Mijas is for many a destination for a relaxing beach holiday. The coast line of 12km is divided in different beach area's in Mijas, Costa del Sol where the sun is present all the time!

All the beaches in Mijas are situated along the urbanisations in Mijas Costa. They are equipped with public showers and toilets. During the summer period, lifeguards take care of the families with kids and the active tourists on the beach and in the sea.
Most of them has received the European Blue flag, an indication of high sand and water hygiene.

Depending were your hotel or apartment is situated you can walk to the closest beach.
Those who are not located on the beach front can use the pedestrian tunnels or bridges to reach the sea side.

The coast line has created several smaller and larger beaches, you have a large choice! For example the Urbanisation La Cala has 5 different beaches, from East to West: Las dorados, Butibamba, El Torreon, Butiplaya and El Bombo. The beach at Butibamba has even a part adapted for wheelchair access. Butiplaya and El Torreon are the busiest of the 5, with plenty of sunbeds, parasols and even child playgrounds.

To my opinion the best beach in Mijas Costa is the one located in the urbanisation Calahonda Calahonda Playa Royal Beach. Easy access via the A7, exit Calahonda (Macdonalds restaurant), a large free parking and a very good beach bar, the chiringuito Royal Beach.

At the end of Mijas on the west side you will find the beach Calahonda near Cabopino puerto. You can stroll to the port about 500 meters further and even take a boat trip for the port. This beach is a lot busier than the others in Calahonda, with several chiringuito's.

At the Urbanisation of Riviera del Sol, you can find a more intimid beach with a the chiringuito El juncal. The restaurant Max Beach is an upscale restaurant with terrace overseeing the beach. Unfortunately, there are nearly no parking spaces here, so you better park on the other side of the road and walk trough the tunnel to reach the Riviera Beach.

Some of the other beaches of Mijas Costa are Playa Marina, direction Fuengirola, this is one of the nudist beaches of the area. The beach at El Faro has a rocky access to the sand beach and you can see fishing lines till late at night.

Those staying in the area of Mijas Golf or Mijas Pueblo have the beaches of Fuengirola closest to them. A bus brings you regularly from Mijas Pueblo to the bus station of Fuengirola, 100 meters from the beach and promenade. As you can see, plenty of beaches in Mijas to try out during your holiday!
