Mijas is a locality in the western side of the Costa del Sol, situated in the Malaga Region, located between Fuengirola and Marbella in Andalusia, Spain. It has a population of approximately 70,000 inhabitants between what we call Mijas Coast and Mijas Town. It is millenial city founded by the Romans in the 2nd century. Today, tourism is it's main source of income. To spend your holidays in Mijas is one of the best options for you to enjoy the beach, the sun and nature, as well as a delicious gastronomy.

During the 2nd century this city was founded by the Romans. It's important to see the evolution of this locality divided into 3 towns...Cala de Mijas, Mijas Coast, Mijas Town. The 2 first are areas on the coast, while the 3rd is in the interior. Nonetheless, in all of them tourism occupies a great part of their economy. More so in the coast than in Mijas town. Here you'll find everything you'll need in order to enjoy a marvelous holiday in the Costa del Sol. You will find plenty of apartments, hotels, hostels, houses and chalets to choose from. In just about 15 minutes by car you can get to the Benalmadena marina, in 25 you'll be in Puerto Banus in Marbella where you can also charter a yacht and enjoy the coast of the Costa del SOl in southern Spain.

It's dark sand and gravel beaches are perfect for a refreshing dip in the Mediterrenean. You'll enjoy over 300 days of sunshine a year, and the climate is always great. You won't find extreme temperatures during any time of the year. It has 12 kilometers of coastline. If you visit Mijas Pueblo (town), you can hop on the donkey taxis and take a ride around town.

Mijas is above all a cosmopolitan tourist area, that from the 80's has brought in residents from many different countries. Ther are more than 100 different nationalities living here in harmony. More than 12% of the population is not from Spain. There are many British, Germans, Dutch, Argentinians, Moroccans, and Nordic's.

Restaurants offer a varied gastronomy. You can enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many traditional Malagueno restaurants or try one of the many international restaurants. You can also enjoy many different outdoor sports like golf, horseback riding, or the beaches with their many beach bars, monuments to visit and great temperatures.
